Written near the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Four Horsemen reflect death as an ever-present specter. While the four horsemen are rooted in Christian tradition, they have become a cutlutral symbol of impending disaster. Highly dramatic, the composer recommends pairing the piece with another that explores  exultant joy and hope.
