A collection of 19 Preludes for Violin with Piano accompaniment by Russian-born composer, Dmitri Shostakovich. After an initial period of writing avant-garde works, Shostakovich wrote primarily in the Romantic idiom, drawing on the influence of Mahler, however he still combined atonality and, at times, tone rows.
